Key Takeaways:
-
Go Network continues to grow: OKX joins BitGo’s Go Network, expanding access to automated, off-exchange settlement workflows
-
Trade without moving assets on exchange: Institutions can access OKX liquidity while keeping assets security held in BitGo qualified custody
-
Improve capital efficiency and utilization: Off-exchange settlement minimizes or eliminates pre-funding requirements, freeing up capital across venues
Institutions are increasingly demanding the same principles that underpin traditional financial markets: separation of custody and trading, reduced counterparty exposure, and the ability to access liquidity without compromising control of assets. BitGo’s Off-Exchange Settlement solution delivers on those requirements and is quickly becoming the foundation for how institutional crypto trading operates.
OKX’s integration with BitGo’s Go Network Off-Exchange Settlement network will allow institutions to trade on OKX while keeping assets securely held in segregated, qualified custody at BitGo.
Institutional clients can access OKX’s liquidity and trading infrastructure without moving assets out of BitGo’s qualified custody. Capital can be deployed more dynamically, while assets remain safeguarded under strict controls with the related accounts insured up to $250M in the event of theft, loss, or misuse of keys.
“We’re seeing a clear shift toward Off-Exchange Settlement as institutions look to separate custody from trading risk. Our integration with OKX expands liquidity access for our clients while allowing them to keep assets secure in regulated custody, said BitGo Founder and CEO, Mike Belshe. “As institutions continue to adopt this model, we believe we’ll see institutions benefit from more consistent workflows, lower operational complexity, and better capital efficiency across the market.”
"Safeguarding customer assets isn't just a priority, it's foundational to everything we build,” said OKX Founder and CEO Star Xu. “Over the years, we've invested significantly in developing a high-standard, in-house custody infrastructure that has been tested and proven at scale. At the same time, we've expanded our custody partnerships with trusted leaders like BitGo to give clients greater flexibility and choice in how they secure their assets. Capabilities such as off-exchange settlement are an important step forward for the industry, reducing counterparty risk while enabling more efficient capital deployment. Combining robust internal systems with best-in-class external partners is key to strengthening trust and accelerating institutional adoption."
OKX and BitGo’s partnership marks a significant expansion of Go Network, and builds on the strong momentum experienced year to date with the addition of STS Digital and Rho Labs in the first quarter.
