Update or troubleshoot your 2-step verification
2-step verification (also known as 2FA or two-factor authentication) is required to access your account. If you experience issues, you can update or troubleshoot your verification method.
Unlocking a compromised account differs from the 2-step verification recovery process.
Assistive technology
If you're using assistive technology and need help with 2-step verification, ensure you have a more accessible option enabled. If you're still unable to complete the process, contact us.
Update your method without account access

Update your device’s operating system (if needed) and ensure your internet connection is stable.

Go to the Coinbase.com account recovery page.

You must know your password to start the recovery process.

Use the same device for the entire process.

Enter your email address and password as usual.

Select an available option (account dependent):

Upload your ID (takes up to 24 hours)

Request trusted contacts approval

You'll receive a 6-digit PIN - copy it so you can use it in a future step.

Follow the remaining prompts.

Once you’re verified and signed in, update your 2-step verification method immediately to maintain your access.

You may be unable to transfer funds for 24 hours after verification.
