Trade

BitGo supports trading directly from qualified custody accounts through the Trade tab on the platform or programmatically via API.

Why place orders through BitGo?

  • Simplified counterparty management: face BitGo* as your sole counterparty while BitGo connects to an expansive network of liquidity providers, exchanges and market makers.

  • Deep aggregated liquidity: BitGo’s smart order router aggregates liquidity across venues enabling competitive pricing, tight spreads and quality execution.

  • Enhanced security: your assets remain safeguarded in BitGo’s bankruptcy-remote, segregated qualified custody, protected by institutional-grade controls and $250M in insurance coverage.

What trading features are available?

BitGo offers the following trading features via our platform/APIs:

  • Spot trading: buy or sell supported digital assets with funds in your Go Account.

  • Auto Liquidation: automatically convert digital assets into USD, USDT or USDC by triggering automated sell orders as soon as assets are confirmed to a designated address.

  • Spot margin trading: for eligible clients, buy or sell digital assets within approved credit limits without prefunding your Go Account.

What types of orders can I place?

Choose from multiple order types designed to align with your trading strategy, urgency and market conditions.

  • Market order: execute immediately at the best price available.

  • Limit order: execute at or better than the specified limit price during the defined time in force configuration.

  • Time weighted average price: execute smaller, equal parts of order passively at predetermined intervals over a set time frame; the algorithm will monitor progress and adapt execution to ensure completion.

  • Steady pace: execute order at specified clip size and fixed intervals; does not execute passively and completion is not guaranteed depending on liquidity and market conditions.

What are the requirements to begin placing orders through BitGo’s platform?

You must execute a Master Purchase Agreement (MPA) and fund your Go Account with assets before placing orders. If you are interested in margin trading, additional documentation will be required. Contact your BitGo point of contact to learn more.

How does settlement occur?

Settlement is netted across buys and sells and all trades are settled via Go Network infrastructure, ensuring assets never leave BitGo’s qualified custody throughout the process, ensuring secure, simultaneous settlement and minimizing counterparty exposure.
